Guidelines for Reviewers
Thank you for your interest in contributing as a reviewer to the Student Medical Ethics Journal. The work of reviewers is critical not only for maintaining our reputation as a journal with high academic and quality standards, but is also an important skill for developing the reviewer’s own attention to the editorial process.

If you're interested in getting involved at the SMEJ as a reviewer please reach out at submissions@studentmej.net

Review Process
-
Reviewers are assigned a manuscript from an editor. NOTE: Reviewers will only communicate with editors, never directly with authors/contributors themselves.
-
Reviewers read and leave feedback on the manuscript
-
Minor Points may be made either in-line in the form of comments/suggestions using tracked edit changes from Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or a comparable service.
-
Major Points and Recommendations should be provided in the form of an organized cover letter
-
-
Editors communicate these reviews to authors/contributors and make the decision to:
-
Accept
-
Reject
-
Accept with major revision
-
Accept with minor revision
-
-
Authors may respond to Major Points in a cover letter that address concerns from the reviewers line-by-line
-
If necessary, additional rounds of review may be conducted for manuscripts following major revisions at the discretion of the editor
